This design holds a USB sub-board and lets you run the wires better and holds it better. It does take a little force to snap it in now. It has a nicely placed back hole for the SD card. You can now more easily use a tweezer to remove it.
It requires a raspberry pi zero and an Adafruit Console cable (or similar). You have to disassemble the cable, which is simple. The cable housing separates with a fingernail between the layers.
Once the console cable circuit board is clear, cut the cable to about 4-5 inches long and you can pull the wires (carefully) to get them out of the rubber cable cover. Then solder the wires into the pi-zero holes and everything is press-fit into the housing. The pi-zero should go down with a small amount of pressure (snapping in) and the console circuit board snaps into the obvious area. The USB connector fits snugly and holds the console circuit board well.
Then just snap the two pieces of the box together and you can plug it into a USB on your computer.
There’s also a hole to remove or replace the SD card but nothing for any of the other connectors. This is supposed to look like a USB stick.
